About the blog and author

My name is Joanna Rutkowska and Traces Of Humanity is my new personal blog, launched in February 2026. My previous blog, Invisible Things, has been retired since 2018.

This blog is intended to be a reportage of my struggles between Rationality and Humanism (see in the intro post).

Also a place to discuss some of my projects :-)

About me

In the past I used to be a computer security researcher and architect, working on many projects over the span of around 20 years. Some of these projects include: Redpill, Bluepill, virtualization and x86 hardware vulnerabilities, Evil Maid (and Anti Evil Maid :p), Qubes OS, and Wildland. I also used to write a blog named Invisible Things about computer security and privacy.

Today I no longer do computer security. I do other stuff, part of which running this blog :-)
